Cold Water or Warm Water Which is Best for Weightloss?

Today we will answer this most frequent asked question which is: what should you drink, cold or warm water? Which of these are best for weight loss?

Water as you know has zero calories and it is among the only liquid that has zero calories. Plus water is essential for the body wellbeing.

I wrote an article about how to lose weight by simply drinking water (water diet), you can read it here is it titled – H20 Water Diet Lose 10kg in 2 months Without Exercise.

Which is best for weight loss, cold water or warm water?

Recent studies suggest that drinking cold water burn more calories that drinking warm water. But we should not jump in to conclusion by this study. Let me explain why….

You see whenever you drink cold water your body will burn extra calories because of the sudden drop in body temperate. The body will require extra energy to get back to its normal body temperature and this process will require some time and extra calories will be burned. This is what the study has found.

But in practical term drinking warm water is far better than drinking cold water, because your body cannot consume too much cold water. Your teeth will feel the pain and your body mechanism will only allow you to drink 500ml of cold water and max.

Now if you drink warm water you will more likely to drink 2 litres of water in one go. The daily recommended dose of water is between 2-3 litres a day. But if you are really in to weight loss you should drink up to 5 litres of warm water a day!

Your last sip of water should be before 6 o’clock evening to avoid wet beds. Also you should drink at least 2 cups of water or 500ml when you wake up and leave at least 30 minutes gap before taking a meal. Drinking water while having a meal is not recommended because it dilutes food nutrients, and you should drink at max 1 cup of warm water after each meal.

As I said before if you are in to weight loss you should drink 5 litres of water day, and these should be done before and in between lunch and dinner time (and leaving at least 30 minutes gap between each meal).

So there you have it! The conclusion is that warm water is better for weight loss and in general water consumption.
